Live recording at Porta Jazz, Porto, as part of a tour in Portugal realised in October 2023.

The music, composed specifically for this occasion, draws on fragments of Brazilian traditions, including Cavalo Marinho, baião and maracatu, mixed with free jazz.

For this occasion I chose fragments from pieces I am inspired by, transcribed and developed it in a different direction. “Toada” is inspired in a folclorical theme played in Cavalo Marinho tradition; “Baiano” is a melody played usually by 2 rabecas (Brazilian northeastern type of violin), also in Cavalo Marinho Tradition; “Os Sertões: is based on a piece called “Glória” written by Cussy de Almeida as a result of my admiration for the Armorial Movement (1970’s in Pernambuco). “Zuada de Queijudo”, “Oh o Toró Oh!” And “Baião de Três” are original compositions written from the influence the music from Pernambuco and Paraíba made on me.
